Also known as the Full Barley Moon, Corn Moon. Harvest moon is actually EITHER September or October--depending on which Full moon is closest to the Autumnal equinox. This year is unusual in that BOTH Full moons are equally distant. Harvest moon refers to the fact that the bulk of harvesting will be done during that month before frosts begin. Here, in the Northeast, that is usually September.
